Flow Together – Yoga Short Course

Flow Together is your chance to take some time for yourself to move, breathe, and unwind in a supportive and uplifting space. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, this 4 week short course will introduce you to yoga at Balwyn CC – guiding you through mindful movement, helping you build strength, flexibility, and inner calm.

Come as you are, connect with yourself, and flow together with others.

Each class includes 1 hour of yoga practice followed by afternoon tea and the chance to chat with your fellow yoga class members.

Enjoy a taste of yoga at Balwyn Community Centre and discover a variety of yoga practices.

Week 1
Yoga Flow – slow and nourishing

  • Short introduction of what yoga is
  • Beginning breath practice & joints awareness
  • Slow and accessible sequence of yoga movements including: seated, standing and reclining postures
  • Variations are offered for individual needs
  • Relaxation practice to end

Week 2
Yoga with Weights

  • Breath and joints awareness to begin
  • With mindfulness we add hand weights, between 0.5 – 2kg, to a series of postures including focus on arm and leg muscles
  • Sequence will include standing and reclining postures
  • Breath and relaxation practice to end

Week 3
Yoga for Core & Balance

  • Breathing and joints awareness to begin
  • Focus on core: deep abdominals, pelvic floor and lower back connections through a series of reclining yoga postures
  • Series of balances and standing postures to highlight core connectivity
  • Relaxation to end

Week 4
Yoga & Meditation

  • Beginning with breath and joint awareness practice
  • Short series of yoga postures to warm and limber our body
  • Exploration of 2 meditation practices, which can be in a chair or seated on floor, to support a daily or weekly practice

 

Each class includes 1 hour of yoga practice followed by afternoon tea and the opportunity to sit down and chat with your fellow yoga class members.
